Everything is handmade and unique. Due to the nature of this and the organic materials used such as gemstones, fresh water pearl and hand wire wrapping, each piece will have its own personality and will not look exactly like the picture represented on the website. In addition, not all colors appear the same on all monitors.

Handmade jewelry is more delicate than mass-manufactured jewelry. With proper care it will help create many great memories. We put a lot of love into each piece and hope you love it just as much.
Jewelry rules to live by:
1. Make sure it is the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off.
2. Always store it out of the open air and keep it away from chemicals such as sunscreen, hairspray, perfume, etc.
3. It is not recommended to exercise in your handmade jewelry, as it can cause unnecessary stress on the piece, and the salt from sweating does not react well with the metals.
4. Does sterling silver tarnish?
Yes, it does over time. The best way to prevent it is to store your jewelry in an airtight container such as a jewelry box or ziploc baggie, and keep it away from sweat and humidity. However, sterling is super easy to clean! Silver polishing cloths will do the trick but they can take a lot of time & elbow grease so I prefer an actual liquid cleaner. You can pick up silver jewelry cleaner at any CVS/Walgreens/Bed Bath & Beyond store and simply dip, rinse and dry! Just make sure you don't dip any of the stones or pearls in the cleaner - it will dissolve their luster. The easiest way to clean them is with toothpaste and toothbrush. Clean, rinse, and dry!
5. Can bronze jewelry turn your skin green?
Yes. The bronze metal clay's composition is 11% tin and 89% copper. Your skin's oils react to the copper in the bronze and can turn your skin green. Everyone's oils react differently and the reaction could be minimal/none to severe. Any reaction can be counteracted by removing the jewelry and washing the affected area. ALL of Lock and Key's bronze jewelry, beginning May 2017, has a clear coat applied on the surface that touches the skin. This will prevent any skin discoloring.
6. Many of Lock and Key's necklace are designed long. These are best hung in order to keep the delicate chain from tangling and/or breaking.
Can I go swimming in your jewelry?
We definitely do not recommend wearing jewelry in a treated swimming environment (unlike a natural environment like a lake or ocean). Any sort of pool or hot tub has chemicals that the jewelry does mix well with, so please take them off before swimming. In addition, perfumes, lotions, hair sprays, profuse sweating, humid climates, etc. are all elements prone to make the sterling tarnish quickly.
